Kool and Together

Kool and Together is in a category of its own. Many people have found it hard to put the band in a genre, so Black Rock Texas funk suits the four piece band perfectly. Kool and Together is literally a blend of rock and funk, stretching beyond the norm to have a very unique, distinctive sound. Kool and Together was formed in the 70s, Victoria, Texas by Charles Sanders Sr. They have opened up for some of the biggest acts around, back in the 80s. These acts inlcude The Gap Band, Yarbrough and Peoples, The Barkays, Midnight Star, Clarence Carter and Johnny Taylor. They were once on the same bill as Willie Neilson at one point. After taking a 20 year hiatus, the band had their first show in 2011 at Continental Club in Austin. Since then, they have been mentioned in several magazines and blogs including Spin Magazine, Texas Monthly and Rolling Stone blog. They had a major show at the Lincoln Center in New York, their first SXSW show in 2012 and have played several times at the Continetal Club in Austin and also in its Houston branch. Kool and Together is Tryrone Sanders at vocals and congos, Charles Sanders Jr. at bass, Johnny Ray Barefield at guitar and Joe Sanders drums. The train has left the station all aboard!
